Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, melted butter, beaten egg, and active sourdough starter. Gradually mix in unbleached flour, sugar, and salt until a cohesive dough forms.
  2. Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise at room temperature for about 9 hours.
  3. Once risen, punch down the dough, transfer to a floured surface, and shape into smooth rolls.
  4. Place rolls on a greased baking tray and refrigerate covered for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and brush the tops with garlic herb butter. Bake for about 25 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for about 10 minutes before serving.
