Step-by-Step Instructions for Beef Black Pepper Udon
- Slice and marinate the beef by thinly slicing it against the grain and seasoning lightly with salt and pepper. Optionally marinate with 1 teaspoon of soy sauce and cornstarch for about 10 minutes.
- Prepare the sauce by whisking together soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, black pepper, and sesame oil. Mix cornstarch with water to form a slurry and combine with the sauce mixture.
- Sear the beef in oil over medium-high heat for 3–4 minutes until browned. Remove the beef and set aside.
- Sauté sliced onion and minced garlic in the same skillet for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Combine cooked udon noodles with the aromatics and pour the sauce over. Toss and cook for another 2–3 minutes.
- Return the seared beef to the skillet, combine everything, and heat for another 1-2 minutes until well mixed and hot.
