Step-by-Step Instructions for Strawberry Kiss Cookies
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the strawberry cake mix, melted butter, and one egg. Mix until smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Add the softened cream cheese to the dough mixture and mix until fully incorporated, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dough for at least 1 hour to prevent spreading.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Place on the prepared sheets.
  6. Optionally, roll each ball in powdered or pink granulated sugar.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes. The edges should be set while centers remain soft.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 1-2 minutes before pressing a chocolate kiss into each cookie.
  9. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.
