Steps to Make Focaccia
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Gradually add all-purpose flour and salt. Mix until a sticky dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Transfer to a greased bowl, drizzle with olive oil, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled.
- Prepare garlic oil by heating olive oil and minced garlic in a saucepan over low heat for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Once the dough has risen, stretch it in a greased 9x13 inch pan. Cover and let rise for another 30 to 45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Dimple the dough, brush with garlic oil, sprinkle with Parmesan, herbs, and flaky salt. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Cool in the pan for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm.
