Step-by-Step Instructions for Quick and Easy German Bread
  1. In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose or bread flour, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Stir in 1 and 1/4 cups of warm water (110°F/45°C) and 1 tablespoon of honey until a sticky dough forms.
  2. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for 1-2 minutes until combined.
  3. Place the kneaded dough back into the bowl and cover it with a clean towel. Allow it to rest in a warm place for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). If you have a Dutch oven, place it inside to heat up.
  5. Once the dough has rested, shape it into a loaf and make a few slashes on top with a sharp knife.
  6. Carefully transfer the shaped dough to the hot Dutch oven or a baking tray. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
