Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the onion, carrots, celery, wild rice, and chicken broth in the baking dish. Stir to mix and cover with aluminum foil. Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  3. Melt 4 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan. Whisk in the flour, salt, and poultry seasoning. Gradually add the milk, whisking until smooth.
  4. Remove the baking dish from the oven, uncover, and add the chicken pieces. Pour the creamy sauce over and stir to combine.
  5. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and toss the cubed bread in it. Sprinkle over the casserole.
  6. Increase oven temperature to 450°F (232°C) and bake uncovered for 20 to 30 minutes until chicken is cooked through and bread is golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool for a few minutes, season to taste, and serve.
