Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Crispy Fried Goat Cheese Balls
  1. Begin by slicing the goat cheese log into equal-sized medallions, about 1-inch thick. Roll each piece into smooth balls and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Set up a dredging station with bowls of flour mixture, egg & milk mixture, and panko breadcrumbs with thyme.
  3. Coat each ball in seasoned flour, then dip in the egg mixture, and finally roll in panko breadcrumbs until fully covered.
  4. Return coated balls to the freezer for another 30 minutes to set the coating.
  5. Heat oil over medium heat to 350°F (175°C) in a heavy-bottomed pot.
  6. Fry the cheese balls in small batches for 30 seconds to 1 minute until golden brown, turning occasionally.
  7. Drain fried balls on a wire rack or paper towels, serve warm with dipping sauces.
