Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut off the top inch of the onions, peel them, and slice into 8–12 segments without cutting all the way through the root.
  3. In the first bowl, mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne. In the second bowl, whisk eggs and milk, and have panko breadcrumbs in the third bowl.
  4. Dredge the onion in the flour mixture, dip into the egg mixture, and press into panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Place the coated onion on the baking sheet, spray generously with cooking spray, and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  6. In a mixing bowl, combine mayo, sour cream, ketchup, hot sauce, and additional spices until smooth.
  7. Serve the baked onion hot with zesty dipping sauce.
