- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a greased 2-quart baking dish.
- Trim and cut the fresh green beans into bite-sized pieces. Blanch in boiling water for 3-4 minutes, then transfer to an ice bath.
- Combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk in a large bowl until smooth. Fold in the green beans, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Pour the green bean mixture into the greased baking dish and sprinkle half of the French fried onions on top.
- Bake for 25 minutes until edges bubble. Remove from the oven and top with remaining French fried onions.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the topping is golden brown and crispy.
- Let cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
