Ingredients
  

For the Shrimp
  • 1 lb Medium or Large Shrimp Thaw completely if using frozen
  • 1 cup Buttermilk Regular milk with vinegar can be substituted
  • ½ cup Cornstarch Essential for crispiness
  • ½ cup All-Purpose Flour Can be swapped with gluten-free flour
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1-2 cups Vegetable Oil For frying
For the Bang Bang Sauce
  • ½ cup Mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup Sweet Chili Sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp Sriracha Adjust to your spice tolerance
  • to taste Honey Optional
For Assembling the Tacos
  • 6-8 Tortillas Small flour or corn tortillas; corn for gluten-free
  • 2 cups Shredded Cabbage For crunch
  • to taste Green Onions/Cilantro For garnish
  • 1 each Lime Wedges For serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and Sriracha. If desired, add honey. Set aside.
  2. Pat shrimp dry, season with salt and pepper, and soak in buttermilk for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Mix cornstarch and flour in a shallow dish. Dredge the soaked shrimp in the mixture.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet until it reaches 350°F.
  5. Fry shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  6. Toss warm shrimp with the prepared Bang Bang sauce until evenly coated.
  7. Warm tortillas in a skillet for 20-30 seconds on each side.
  8. Assemble tacos with shredded cabbage, crispy shrimp, garnished with green onions or cilantro, and serve with lime wedges.
