  • 1 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup Cold Butter Cut into cubes.
  • 1/4 cup Milk Moisten the topping mixture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the prepared pears, granulated sugar, flour, ground cinnamon, and salt. Stir continuously for 2-3 minutes until thickened and fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Transfer mixture to a baking dish.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of light brown sugar, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cut in 1/4 cup of cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually mix in 1/4 cup of milk until the dough comes together.
  4. Sprinkle dollops of the topping mixture evenly over the pear filling in the baking dish.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm or at room temperature, possibly with ice cream.
